Rethinking the History of Jewish Nationalism Symposium, UCLA

The aim of the UCLA symposium is to assemble leading scholars engaged in this work to take stock of the potential and possibilities of a new narrative framing for the history of Jewish nationalism. It is important to add that this effort takes place in an age of globalization in which fleet travel and instant communication allow for a constant traversing of national boundaries. These developments encourage the study not only of diverse forms of Jewish Nationalism, but of a wider comparative and transnational field within which to understand Jewish nationalism.

Hi Michael, This conference takes place next January 2011. So, no papers available yet. I am not organizing the conference, so I am not sure about what will be available. The material I will present comes from my book, Zionism and the Roads not Taken:Rawidowicz, Kaplan, Kohn. So, feel free to take a look at the book if you want a sneak preview of at least one presentation.

You can direct specific questions about the conference to the UCLA Center for Jewish Studies.
